Monday afternoon backlog
AIChicagoElection 2026EuropePoliticsRussiaSoftwareTrumpWeatherWorkWorld PoliticsI asked my boss a question over Teams just after 2:30 this afternoon and he jumped on a quick call with me to answer. For context, he's outside Birmingham, so it was 8:30 pm for him. The topic? Getting Claude Code to work with Obsidian to build a personal wiki that your LLM can answer questions about. I know how I'll be spending some of my work hours this week: learning as much as I can about this stuff.
I will also spend some time outside. It's 23°C at Inner Drive Technology WHQ right now, with a wet but warm forecast for the rest of the week.
Meanwhile, in the rest of the world:
- Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán drove record numbers of people to the polls to vote his ass out yesterday in a huge blow to Russia and also to the OAFPOTUS.
- Orbán's defeat is also a delicious humiliation of Vice President JD Vance, who flew to Budapest personally to campaign for him.
- Yascha Mounk hasn't popped open a Champagne bottle yet, because Hungary has a lot of cleaning up to do and the authoritarian Fidesz Party won't go quietly. (Also, the new guy is pretty right-wing too.)
- Our negotiations with Iran haven't gone so well because both countries are pretty screwed no matter what happens.
- Adam Kinzinger positively blew his top after the OAFPOTUS posted a meme of himself as Jesus over the weekend.
Finally, in Wisconsin, the Dodge County Sheriff has sued a 27-year-old Chicago-based influencer with a history of bizarre behavior for defamation after she appears to have spun up a hoax about being detained by ICE that both the sheriff and DHS flatly deny. The Block Club article hints at some of the weird things she's already gotten in trouble over, including getting expelled from the University of Illinois for getting a goon to threaten an ex-boyfriend and destroy his computer, among other things.
